Fuel Storage Tank Regulation 62-761

By December 31, 2009 all single-wall fuel storage tanks and associated piping that is in contact with the soil must have secondary containment to comply with the new fuel storage tank regulation 62-761. By January 1, 2010 all single-wall field erected aboveground fuel storage tanks must also have this secondary containment beneath the tank, and single-wall bulk product piping in contact with the soil.

If you want to find out more about the new fuel storage tank regulation 62-761, we recommend that you consult the Storage Tank Rules Chapter 62-761, F.A.C and 62-762, F.A.C., your county inspector, or your or one of our experts if you have any questions.

Please be aware that the fuel storage tank regulation 62-761 is statewide and that the department has never used an extension for an equipment upgrade deadline since the storage tank rules were adopted in 1984!

We strongly encourage you to get your upgrades done early! Last minute upgrades could easily result in higher costs due to the increased demand for storage tanks, piping, and installation services. Last minute upgrades could result in unexpected delays, and ultimately expose you to fines and penalties from the department if you do not comply with the fuel storage tank regulation 62-761.
